Christmas is Coming

It has been rather hectic lately. I have been busy with card orders and in between making my own cards. They have still to be written out!

December is a busy month for birthdays and anniversaries in our family so I shall have to make a start to these shortly. Here is a selection of cards.

At Last....

I have tried in vein to put a posting on for a while. Time just whizzes when your having fun. I have been busy making cards to order and fitting in the odd Chritsmas card for myself. I doubt I will manage to make enough at this rate. Each year I intend to start preparations early but as usual it will be a last minute rush. Here are a couple or so of cards made recently.

Tartan Birthday

I was asked to make a 60th birthday card for a Scottish gent living in England so could I please use something tartan, so here it is.

I'm Back

I am feeling it a bit chilly since coming back from Italy on holiday. We were in Lake Garda and had some lovely warm weather, it was just beautiful. This is the first time I have travelled to Italy and thoroughly enjoyed it. The people were lovely, our hotel was great and the food was mmmmmmmmorish. I love Italian food. It was lucky we did a lot of walking to burn off the extra calouries!!!

It is now back to reality and work. i will hopefully post some holiday snaps once my husband sorts them out. Meantime here are some cards to look at.

The new baby card is for Anna and the big sister card is for Kirsten.

60th Birthday Card

My daughter asked me to make cards for her friend who is turning 60 shortly. I wanted to make something a little different so I dangled the 60 from some acetate to give the card a bit of dimension. This same friend is also moving to another place of work so I made the 'Missing you already' card. I just love these Penny Black rubber stamps they are so cute.

Skateboard Challenge!

I was asked by my daughter to make a card for her friends son who is a keen skateboarder. This was a challenge as I had nothing in my stash that resembled a skateboard. The card is for a young man who is very arty. So out came paper & pencil to sketch templates for a board. This is what I came up with so here is hoping they like it!

Tartan Christmas

It doesn't feel like a year ago I was preparing to send Christmas cards overseas but here we are again. I am a little earlier this year due to us going on holiday in 2 weeks time. By the time we return home the first posting date will be due. I made a change this year by incorporating some tatran into my designs. Family abroad often like to see a little of roots at this time of year.

Pop Out Christmas

I liked the article in Cardmaking & Papercraft mag in July showing pop out floral cards. So Ithought I would have a go with snowflakes. This is the result. It is a little different so please leave comments and tell me what you think. I used Papermania blue Christmas papers and Sizzlets snowflake on the front. Various punches were used on the inside and a Penny Black sentiment.

Another Surprise!

I had another surprise this week. Clare Curd from Docrafts E-mailed me to say I had won her Weekly Challenge. I am overjoyed to say the least. I have been enjoying Clare's challenges, each Wednesday she sets a project to be uploaded by the following Tuesday. Last week chipboard had to be included in the card. I based my card on her sketch of the week also, therefore combined both challenges together. I used K & Co papers and inked a chipboard flower with a Whispas port wine ink pad to get a similar colour. I added dots of Liquid Pearls to add a little definition to the petals. The small flower and leaves are Lavinias clear stamps. Finishing touches are lime green gems and raffia. This raffia is recycled from a gift I received for Poland. Nothing goes to waste.

It was a litte different from my usual design. I am off to make some Christmas cards now and will upload them when hubby takes the photographs.

Sketch Challenge

It's Sunday morning, I'm taking time to update my blogs and look at some other poeples blogs and galleries. I just uploaded my card from Clare Curd's sketch of the week on the Docrafts site, I will share this with you all here too. I went for a BIG & BOLD approach this week, the final design is nothing like what I started out to do. Sometimes one idea generates to another and the final outcome is so different to what I intended.

Son's Birthday Cards

I made the yellow sun card for my sons birthday, which I thought was very apt since he is a Doctor of Astronomy. Well, when I let my Hubby see it he said he liked the card but... was it not a litle feminine. I suppose when you look at it again the colours are a bit pale and the beads a little girlie.
So off I went to re-design the card. This is what I came up with. I hope it fits the bill this time, so feel free to make any comments I really appreciate others vews.
